What has happened to me???

Last night we went to see Tripod. It was... well, interesting. :o) Half of us (that would be five, if anyone's counting) walked out. Including me. Strange, I know! It just got to the point where the swearing and crudeness was too much. Everyone was laughing, but I just didn't find it funny. I was dead to the humour. So I coerced my fiancé into walking out with me. I think he was grateful... although he was laughing, he doesn't usually find things like that funny. He hasn't even seen Austin Powers!

It's amazing how much I've changed in the last year! Last year when we went to see Tripod, I was laughing my butt off the whole time (Little sidenote: isn't that an interesting expression? If I thought laughing would help...). All of the bad things went right over my head. I never thought I'd walk out on anything, ever. In fact, I determined in my heart to do just that! But when God changes your heart... :o)

I don't understand why they swear so much, to tell you the truth. No-one goes there to specifically hear people swear, they can get that anywhere. What they're looking for is hilarity. And you can get that without the swearing and crudeness! In fact, the crowd was laughing just as much, if not more, at the parts that had good, clean humour. By swearing, they're not drawing anyone in, they're just pushing people away. They're cutting out a whole group of people that would otherwise love them.

Oh well, I guess that's the last bit of support Tripod will get from me. *sigh* It was a long, blissful relationship... just a bit rough around the edges.

I believe, but do not swear, Jesus was more concerned by people misleading people through swearing something is true than by their choice of exclamations.

Unburden yourself and receive and give bliss.

That's true, Philip.

There was a new Christian at our church a few years back who swore while expressing his love to God, because it was just how he spoke. But he was one of the most passionate new Christians ever.

And we should embrace people from all walks of life, no matter how they were brought up and where they've been. But it's different when you go to a performance or movie, where you chose to be there, and you can choose to leave.

But you're absolutely right. God looks at the heart, not at the words that are used.
